You know when a wedding has a little bit of magic to them? This one was something special.
It was May in Milwaukee, and the city had that perfect mix of warmth and breeze—the kind that makes you feel alive for a wedding. The day started downtown, where the couple had their first look. It was intimate, emotional, and absolutely stunning. They chose to read their vows to each other in that moment, just the two of them, with the city as their backdrop and the wind adding a touch of drama. I swear, it was like something out of a movie.
From the beginning, it was clear that this wedding was about intention. Every person there was someone deeply important to them. Every moment was carefully chosen to reflect their love. They weren’t just celebrating their relationship; they were honoring the people who had shaped it.
“Our favorite thing about working with Brittany was her energy. And not just physical energy but emotional energy. I could feel that you have that natural ability to make everyone, not only the bride and groom, feel comfortable in front of the camera.”
After the first look, we explored the city, capturing wedding party photos in the heart of downtown before making our way to the lakefront. Milwaukee’s skyline and the shimmer of the water made for the dreamiest backdrop. These two? They were effortlessly cool—fun, edgy, and completely themselves. They laughed, they posed like models, they threw on sunglasses just because that’s who they are. It wasn’t about tradition; it was about them.
Then, it was time for the ceremony. Up on the rooftop at The Vista, overlooking the city, they said, “I do.” The sun was starting to lower in the sky, casting this golden glow over everything. It was breathtaking.
From family portraits to cocktail hour, there was so much joy. The kind that fills a room and spills out onto the dance floor. These two made time for each other throughout the night, stealing quiet moments away from the crowd. It was so romantic, so real.
And the reception? Oh, it was a celebration. There were tears during speeches, bursts of laughter, and dancing that didn’t stop. Their first dance was one of my favorites I’ve ever photographed—just the two of them, lost in each other, like no one else was in the room. Every dance after that carried the same energy, from the emotional parent dances to the absolutely popping dance floor.
Before the night ended, we snuck out for sunset photos. The bride wanted something fun and creative, and she was down for anything. So we played. We leaned into the cool, the edgy, the “look-at-us-we’re-models” energy. And it was perfect.
This wedding wasn’t just about beautiful moments (though there were plenty). It was about a couple who truly, deeply love each other. A couple who wanted to be intentional with their day, their people, and their time.
And as a photographer, that’s the kind of wedding that sticks with you. The kind that reminds you why you do this.
